USE OF SCHOOL BOARD SOCIAL MEDIA ACCOUNTS
Official DeSoto Parish Public School Board social media sites shall be created and maintained by the School Board’s Communications Office for the purpose of engaging with the community of DeSoto Parish parents, family members, and other stakeholders. It is expected that participants treat each other with respect in all interactions on School Board social media sites.
When engaging with the DeSoto Parish School Board on any social media site, participants shall be subject to the following:
Comments made by the public shall be reviewed by the Communications Office.
Comments shall be deleted if they contain vulgar, abusive, or threatening language or images; personal attacks of any kind; offensive terms that target specific ethnic or racial groups or incite violence; or election campaigning for a political office or ballot proposition.
Comments that violate the social media platform’s Terms of Use, are spam or clearly “off topic,” divulge personal student or staff information, post material that violates copyrights or trademarks of others, or that promote services or products also shall be deleted.
Users are welcome to submit or post personal content to School Board/school sites when the content meets the standards articulated in this policy and pertains to the subject of the site. The DeSoto Parish School Board shall not be responsible for user-generated content and the opinions expressed in that content do not necessarily reflect those of the School Board or School District.
Any questions or concerns regarding the School Board’s social media activity or social media policies should be directed to the School Board’s Communications Office.
